FRAMINGHAM: Elsie R. (Abelli) Coakley, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sat. March 6, 2014. She was the beloved wife of Eugene T. Coakley with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Waltham on March 4, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Camillo and Celestina (Antonioli) Abelli. As a young woman, Elsie worked as a secretary for Raytheon Corp. where she met her future husband. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed summer days down the Cape with her girlfriends, and babysitting her older brother Peter’s children. When Elsie and Gene settled in to raise their family in 1961, she also became an integral part of the neighborhood at Brookfield Circle, providing happy memories and connections that continue to this day. Even through her last years, she was ready to help out by house sitting while neighbor friends were traveling. A smart and independent thinker and great role model, Elsie was a devoted wife to Gene and mother to her children and taught them the importance of being compassionate and hard working and gave them an understanding of her Italian heritage, particularly the generosity of shared meals. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her loving children: Eugenie H. Coakley & her husband Joseph Musolino of Watertown, Michael Coakley of Framingham, and Nancy J. Welch & her husband Richard of Charlton; and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her siblings; Helen, Peter, Richard and Francis Abelli. Visiting hours are Tuesday, March 11th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Boyle Bros. Funeral Home, 173 Union Ave., Framingham. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, March 12th at 10:00 a.m. at St. George’s Church, 74 School Street, Framingham (Saxonville). Burial will follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery, Grove St., Framingham Centre.
