Mr. Edward Francis Simpson, a former longtime resident of Andover and beloved husband of Gladys T. (Cairns) Simpson, died Monday, December 31, 2012 at the Glenwood Nursing Center in Lowell MA. He was 86 years old. Born in Lowell on February 7, 1926, he was the beloved son of the late George and Ethel M. (Gordon) Simpson. He was a proud WWII veteran of the Navy, serving on an LST during the Normandy Invasion and continuing through the end of the war. After many years in the construction field, Mr. Simpson retired. He enjoyed tending his vegetable garden, baking, and the occasional trip to Atlantic City but especially spending time with family. He was always happy to lend a helping hand. He will be missed dearly by his beloved children; Edward F. Simpson, Jr. of Framingham, MA and Beverly A. Bilsborough and husband John of Greenfield, NH, grandchildren; Tyler and Parker Simpson, Nancy Maglioccetti, Kristen Gondolfo, and Theo Bilsborough great-grandchildren; Luca, Michael and Lyla Gondolfo, Olivia and Claudia Maglioccetti, and the late Isabella Gondolfo. Mr. Simpson was also father of the late Nancy T. and Brian M. Simpson. His Funeral Service will be celebrated in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Friday, January 4, 2013, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend.
