Henry L. “Hank” Brown

FRAMINGHAM Henry L. “Hank” Brown, 85, a resident of Framingham since 1972, died peacefully Sunday Jan. 18, 2015. He was the beloved husband of the late Lila (Anaya) Brown who died in 2009. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John E. and Mary G. (Mawhinney) Brown. A graduate of Charlestown High School, Mr. Brown went on to serve the first of three enlistments in the US Navy. His career spanned W.W. II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars with additional duty assignments in Japan and Texas. He was honorably discharged in 1972 holding the rank of Master Chief. He also worked at BU in the Facilities and Maintenance division for 20 years and served the Town of Framingham as an auxiliary police officer and crossing guard. Mr. Brown was a member of the Ashland American Legion and a faithful parishioner of more than 40 years of St. Bridget’s Church in Framingham. He is survived by a son: John E. Brown of Framingham; a son-in-law: George S. Kuffel of Texas and a grandson, Noah N. Brown of Framingham. He was the father of the late Patricia K. Kuffel and brother of the late Eleanor Mawhinney. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, January 27th at 9:00 a.m. at St. Bridget’s Church, 830 Worcester Rd., (Rte. 9 East) Framingham Centre. Interment with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:15 p.m. There are no public visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to: the St. Bridget’s HAS (Help A Student) Fund, c/o St. Bridget’s Rectory, 15 Wheeler Ave., Framingham, MA. 01702.
