FRAMINGHAM Edward Cahill, 92, a Framingham resident for more than 50 years, died Thursday May 15, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen J. (McDevitt) Cahill for 60 years before her death in Feb. 2012. Born in Broher, Co. Sligo, Ireland he was the son of the late Martin and Mary (Meehan) Cahill. Mr. Cahill worked for General Motors at their former Framingham plant for 44 years before retiring when the plant closed. He enjoyed travel, dancing and following the news. He is survived by his children: Mary Beth Cahill & her husband Steven Champlin of Washington, DC, Edward G. Cahill & his wife Mary Ann of Northborough, Joseph Cahill & his wife Mary of Walpole, Michael Cahill & his wife Elaine of Medway, Ann Castagnetti & her husband David of Bethesda, Md., Clare Serrantino & her husband Paul of Cromwell, Ct. and 14 grandchildren. Visiting hours are Tuesday May 20 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Boyle Bros. Funeral Home, 173 Union Ave., Framingham. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday May 21 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget’s Church, 830 Worcester Rd., (rte. 9 east) Framingham Centre with burial to follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Fenwick St., Framingham. The family suggests memorial donations be made in his name to either Bethany Healthcare Center, 97 Bethany Rd., Framingham, MA. 01702; or to St. John’s Food for the Poor, 44 Temple St., Worcester, MA. 01604.
